Means of Transportation to Work

Los Angeles is a car-dependent county, and the number of workers who drove alone to work continues to increase annually since 2010. In 2017, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that 3,622,985 workers in Los Angeles County drove alone to work, which translates to 79% of all workers in the population. The second most popular mean of transportation is carpooling, which composes of 451,466 workers or 9.8% of the working population.

Both methods contribute to the increased Vehicle Miles of Travel (VMT) and greenhouse gas emissions in Los Angeles County.
