Public High School Graduation Rates
Graph interpretation:
The high school graduation rate of Los Angeles Unified School District rose by almost 5% within a single year in 2016. The increase in 2016 represents the largest jump in the recent history of LAUSD albeit lagging behind the County and the State.
Part of the great success in 2016 is contributed to the suspension of the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). The California Assembly has voted to permanently eliminate the exam in 2017. This has allowed more students to receive a high school diploma notwithstanding the standard by which a diploma is awarded.
