For Nonprofits: Job Training Information Sessions
July 12, 2018 @ 10:30 am - July 18, 2018 @ 5:30 pm
LA County has one of the highest concentrations of aerospace and automotive jobs in the nation, presenting an opportunity of economic success for county residents. However, these opportunities can be out of reach because of a lack of information to relevant free or low-cost training in these growing, but fast-changing fields. Without focused intervention, we risk pushing many of our residents further behind: poverty will increase, wage gaps will widen. LAEDC and Propel LA are committed to doing something about this.
With help from the Citi Foundation Community Progress Makers Fund, a two-year initiative to support community organizations that drive economic opportunities in their communities, we’re launching a program that empowers under-employed workers in the communities of Pacoima, Inglewood, and Lennox. Through a free, eight-week job training at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Academies at LA Valley College and El Camino College, participants will be equipped with both technical and soft skills necessary to be hired into advanced manufacturing jobs at livable wages.
We’re tapping agencies concerned with community development and poverty alleviation to join us by promoting this program to your clients. If your nonprofit agency serves clients looking for job training, feel free to join us for an information session.
