With 319 residents, the City of Industry has created an economic impact of over 200,000 direct and indirect jobs in LA County.
An economic impact study, conducted by the Emerson Consulting Group, found that the business-centric city contributes $19 million in wages and $52 billion in sales to the region. Its 3,000 businesses generated $31 billion in sales in 2016.
The direct $31 billion in sales and the $10 billion spent on the 67,000 employees working in Industry is only a “fraction of the overall impact” on the local economy, the authors wrote. Industry’s businesses require goods and services from surrounding communities that in turn create additional employment and sales, according to the report and as stated in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune article.
The City of Industry also released information about the economic impact study, and the city’s impact on the county.
City of Industry became a member of the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) in August 2017.
